Heather and Anya help seal dramatic England win

Western Storm’s Heather Knight and Anya Shrubsole helped England to seal a dramatic victory over India in Mumbai.

England recovered from 49 for five to claim a memorable two-wicket win in the third ODI with just seven balls to spare.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, India lost Jemimah Rodrigues to the second ball of the match when she was bowled by Katherine Brunt.

However, the tourists initial jubilation was short-lived as Smriti Mandhana and Panum Raut took the score to 129 before the Storm opener was caught by Danielle Wyatt off the bowling of Brunt for 66. Brunt then claimed her and England’s third scalp when she skittled Raut for 56 for the addition of just two further runs.

Brunt then claimed two further wickets to reduce the hosts to 140 for five and finished with impressive figures of five for 28 from her 10 overs.

Anya and Nat Sciver took a wicket each to see India slip to 150 for seven but late resistance from Shikha Pandey and Deepti Sharma ensured that the hosts finished on 205 for eight from their 50 overs.

The England reply got off to the worst possible start and three quick wickets from Jhulan Goswami helped see the visitors slump to 49 for five.

However, 47 from Heather got England back on track and 56 from Wyatt steered her side towards what had seemed like an unlikely victory.

When Wyatt fell in the 43rd over England were 174 for seven, still needing a further 35 runs for victory.

Georgia Elwiss (33 not out) and Brunt (18) took England to the brink of victory but when the latter fell at 204 for eight, it was left to Anya to hit the winning runs.

The Storm bowler duly obliged, hitting her first ball for four to secure a dramatic victory for England.
