MEET THE NEW STAFF

Western Storm are pleased to be able to introduce supporters to three new members of staff.

JACK BENNETT

Jack has been appointed to the position of Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Jack will oversee all the S&C work for the Western Storm squad and the new Western Storm Academy.

He joins Western Storm, having previously held a number of roles within elite sport including working with the Chinese Olympic Committee, the Chinese Snowboarding team plus the Welsh Women’s International Rugby team through the 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup and Six Nations campaign.

Jack is no stranger to the South West, having spent a year as a Strength & Conditioning Coach at Millfield School where he worked with young athletes across a number of sports.

After accepting the role, Jack said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me and it’s a really exciting time to be involved in women’s cricket. The game is getting a lot more recognition now and I’m looking forward to being a part of the evolution of the game.

“I’m really looking forward to being a part of the development process of the women’s game in the region. It’s not just about the professional team, it’s about the Academy and developing talent across the whole of this large area. The prosect of being able to help develop the next group of professional players is extremely exciting.

“We cover a large area and that gives us a really good opportunity to see a huge range of talent, and that can only be good for the future of Western Storm.”

 

JESSIE MEANEY

Jessie is Western Storm’s new Physiotherapist.

Jessie has been a qualified Physio for eight years, and after completing a Masters in Sport and Exercise Medicine she has dedicated the last three years to women’s sport.

She brings experience from Women’s Premiership Rugby and Women’s KSL cricket.

After joining Western Storm, she said: “I am passionate about the development of women’s cricket and driving the standards and experience in a women’s sporting environment. I am thrilled to be a part of the Storm team and to see the progression of cricket in the South West through the Academy and Senior squads.”

 

GEORGINA CLARK

Georgina has been appointed as Western Storm’s Team Operations Executive.

Georgina brings a strong operational background to Storm, having worked for a number of years in organising international motor rallies. Following this she moved on to managing rugby supporter’s tours to major international tournaments such as the Six Nations, British and Irish Lions and the Rugby World Cup. Alongside the rugby tours, Georgina was lucky enough to go on a number of supporters tours following the England men’s cricket team, including tours of India, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Australia.

Regarding her new role, Georgina said: “I’m delighted to have joined Western Storm at such an exciting time for women’s cricket. It’s inspiring to be able to work with and support a group of players who have such a great opportunity as professional sportswomen, alongside the next generation with the Academy. I’m also excited to be part of such a fantastic team.”

Regional Director of Women’s Cricket, Lisa Pagett said: “We are really pleased to be able to welcome Jack, Jessie and Georgina to the Western Storm family. During the recruiting process, all three demonstrated the attributes and enthusiasm that made them the stand-out candidates for their specific roles. They have already fitted in really well and everyone has been impressed by the energy that they have brought.”
