Western Storm complete 2018 Squad

Western Storm have now completed their squad for 2018 after announcing who will fill the final four spaces.

Returning for this season will be Alice “Lissy” McLeod. The former Southern Viper featured in all seven matches for Western Storm as they claimed the Kia Super League title in 2017. The only player to have a winner’s medal from both tournaments, the 24-year-old has also impressed so far this season as captain of Berkshire.

Joining up with the squad for the third year running will be Amara Carr. The 24-year-old Devonian helped Middlesex to the County T20 title this year after spending the winter in Melbourne working on her development.

The final squad is completed by 24-year-old Middlesex all-rounder Naomi Dattani and University of Exeter graduate Rebecca Silk.

Naomi has previous Kia Super League experience after representing Surrey Stars in 2017. She has also captained Middlesex.

23-year-old Rebecca is a right-handed batter who bowls off-spin and made her debut for Devon in 2015.

After completing the Western Storm line up for 2018 Head Coach, Trevor Griffin said: “Lissy has impressed me with the amount of skills work that she has undertaken over the course of the winter and she has really improved her fitness levels. With this in mind I am sure that she will have a major part to play for us this year.

“Amara is in her third year with us now and it has been really good to watch her grow as both a player and an individual. The commitment that she has shown to the cause over the last two years has been exemplary and I was impressed to see that she went overseas to work on her skills over the winter. She is outstanding with the gloves and could very well be pushing for a place in the starting line-up this year.

“Naomi is a high-quality player and her experience in the KSL gives us even more strength in depth. As Middlesex captain she has shown herself to be able to thrive in pressure situations and that can only benefit us as a squad.

“Rebecca is a player that has been on our radar for a while. She has been impressive for Devon for a few years now and is one of the best players in the South West.

“Now that the squad has been announced we can’t wait to get the defence of our title underway on Sunday at the Cooper Associates County Ground.”
