Chloe signs contract extension

Western Storm can today announce that Chloe Skelton has signed a contract extension.

The 22-year-old off spinner was a part of the Western Storm Academy in 2021 and signed her first professional contract last winter.

A product of the Gloucestershire Pathway system, Chloe made her Storm debut in 2022 and finished as the second highest wicket taker in the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint competition with 10 wickets at an average of 17.20 from her four games. She also returned her best figures of five for 54 against South East Stars. This summer saw her maintain her impressive form and claim 19 wickets for Storm across the two formats.

After extending her stay with Storm, Chloe said: “I’m super excited to get going again. It’s been a great year for me, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve as a team next year.

“I feel like I’ve developed a lot during my first year as a professional and that’s something that I’m proud of and something that I want to continue to do. To have professional contracts available to young girls now is brilliant for the development of the game at all levels.

“The fact that Western Storm represents the whole of the South West and Wales makes pulling on the shirt so special. I came through the Gloucestershire ranks and it feels really special to be connected to the region. There’s a real family feel around the group and within the team because we’re all together and we all know who we’re representing.”

Head Coach, Trevor Griffin is pleased that such an exciting talent will be continuing her cricketing journey with Storm. “Everyone associated with Western Storm is delighted that we’ve been able to extend Chloe’s contract,” he said. “She broke onto the scene in 2022 and was one of our leading wicket takers. Since then, she’s gone from strength to strength. We are all looking forward to seeing what she can achieve in the next 12 months.

“One of the things that is so impressive about Chloe is her thirst for learning. She’s worked really well with Tom Smith (Western Storm Bowling Consultant) over the winter and throughout this summer. She’s open to new ideas, has adapted well to the different formats and she has a constant desire to get better. In addition to that, she brings an impressive energy into every game that she plays.”
