Ellie's Loan Extended

Western Storm are pleased to be able to announce that Ellie Anderson has extended her stay with the team.

The 20-year-old seamer initially signed on a month-long loan from Central Sparks, and that has now been extended until July 23rd.

The England Under 19 International, who is a product of the Worcestershire Player Pathway, joined the Central Sparks Academy in 2021 and was selected by Southern Brave in The Hundred in 2023.

She was named in the England squad for the 2023 Under 19 World Cup where she finished the tournament with eight wickets with a best of five for 12 against the West Indies.

Since joining Storm, she has featured in eight matches across the formats, claiming seven wickets with a best of four for nine in our recent Charlotte Edwards Cup win over Sunrisers.

After extending her stay, Ellie said: “I’m really excited to be staying because it’s great to be playing some cricket. I’ve settled in really well here. Everyone’s made me feel really welcome and it’s like I’ve been a part of the team since day one.

“Everyone is really frustrated that we haven’t managed to get over the line more in the last few weeks. I think that if we can get a couple of results under our belt then something will click and then we’ll fly.

“Hopefully I can continue to play, continue to enjoy myself and help to contribute on the pitch.”

Head Coach, Trevor Griffin added: “We’re delighted that she will be staying with us for a longer period. She’s shown that she’s determined to improve and she’s added some pace to our bowling stock. Her skills are getting continually better and we saw that in the game against Sunrisers.

“She’s a joy to work with and she very much fits in with the Western Storm way and what we look for in players.”
