Issy's loan extended

Western Storm are delighted to be able to announce that Issy Wong’s loan period has been extended.

The England seamer was initially loaned from Central Sparks for the recently concluded Charlotte Edwards Cup, but the 22-year-old will now remain with Storm for the Rachael Heyhoe Flint fixtures which lead into the break for The Hundred.

Storm Head Coach, Trevor Griffin is pleased that Issy will be wearing the Green & Black for a little longer.

“Issy’s been a great addition to the squad,” he said. “On the park we’re starting to see the best of her again. She’s bowling in good areas and bowling with a smile on her face. That’s great to see.

“She’s also full of energy around the group and has shown real enthusiasm since day one. She’s also been more than happy to talk about the game and share her knowledge in the dressing room.

“I think she’s thriving, and we are benefitting from that in a number of areas. When the opportunity to extend the loan presented itself it was too good an opportunity to turn down.”

Issy added: “The girls have been fantastic in welcoming me. I’m excited by what’s going on down here and it’s fantastic to be a part of it.

“First and foremost, we want to be a part of a winning team and hopefully we can make that happen. I love bowling, I love talking about bowling, I love everything about bowling. It’s something that I’m really passionate about, so hopefully that can help some of the younger players in the squad because they’re a fantastic group.”
