Meet the team behind the Storm
It’s been widely acknowledged that Western Storm’s success in winning the Kia Super League last year was down to the commitment and contribution from every member of their squad, which is equally true for the back room team as it is the playing squad. Many of that successful unit have returned to help defend that title, and along with Head Coach, Trevor Griffin and General Manager, Lisa Pagett here is a little more information on those people who are working behind the scenes to bring success to Western Storm.
Michael Bates has returned for the 2018 campaign as Assistant Coach. Michael is well known to South West supporters from his time playing for Somerset. He is also currently involved in coaching at both Hampshire and England.
Returning as Performance Coach for 2018 is Jon Pitts. Jon is an expert in elite performance and has extensive experience in helping people compete at the highest level and under the most extreme pressure.
Western Storm’s bowling specialist is another familiar face to Somerset fans. Ben Phillips enjoyed a successful career at Somerset as well as at Northants, Kent and Notts.
Ocean Physio’s Adam Rutter is a specialist sports physio and re-joins the Storm support team again after last year’s successful campaign. Based in Exeter, Adam also brings a wealth of experience.
PJ Dundass is a new addition to the Storm team as Strength & Conditioning coach. PJ is part of Exeter University’s High-Performance Programme and brings his experience of working in both hockey, rugby and netball.
Jack Whaley joins the Western Storm team for the first time this year, and after a successful internship with the England Cricket Board, he provides vital analysis and match stats to help coaches and players prepare their title defence.
