Storm sign Amanda-Jade Wellington

Western Storm can today announce the signing of Australian spinner, Amanda-Jade Wellington.

The 26-year-old will join up with her teammates next month and is due to remain with the squad for the whole season. She will therefore be available for both the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Trophy and the Charlotte Edwards Cup.

The Australian International has featured in 14 ODIs, eight IT20s and one Test for her country, taking 30 wickets across the formats.

During her career she has played in 223 T20 matches, taking 266 wickets at an average of 17.40 with a best of five for eight. She has also claimed 143 List A wickets at an average of 25.02 with a best of six for 25.

She already has experience of playing English domestic cricket having spent a season with Southern Vipers in the KSL in 2019.

She has impressed in The Hundred in the last few years, representing Southern Brave and Manchester Originals, taking 35 wickets in 23 matches at an average of 14.11 with a best of four for 12. She will take to the field for Oval Invincibles in the 2024 edition of the tournament.

After putting pen to paper, Storm’s new signing said: “I can’t wait to get going. I enjoy challenging myself in English conditions, and I’m looking forward to playing both 50-over and T20 cricket this summer. Hopefully, I can bring a bit of experience to the group and help us win some games of cricket across both formats.”
