Storm too strong for Lightning
Western Storm made it two wins from two pre-season matches with a seven-wicket DLS win over Lightning in Loughborough.
Sophie Luff won the toss and elected to field.
72 from Tammy Beaumont and 41 from Abigail Freeborn helped to ensure that the home side posted a solid total of 232 for nine from their 50 overs.
Steph Hutchins (two for 12) was the the pick of the bowlers, whilst there was also a brace of wickets for both Georgia Hennessey and Molly Robbins.
Western Storm’s reply started in strong fashion with Lauren Parfitt and Fi Morris looking in impressive form.
Rain interrupted proceedings on a number of occasions and Storm were set a revised total of 174 from 34 overs.
Parfitt (66) and Morris (65) eventually shared an opening stand of 127 to put Storm well on course for victory.
Luff added a rapid 20 and it was left to Hennessey and Nat Wraith to see their side to their total with four balls to spare.
