Trevor impressed by county finals days
Last month saw the county T20 Finals Days take place, with both Somerset and Gloucestershire staging the events at the Cooper Associates County Ground and the Seat Unique Stadium.
Home ground advantage seemed to work well for the hosts, with both Somerset and Gloucestershire lifting their respective regional trophies.
One interested spectator was Western Storm, Head Coach Trevor Griffin, who was impressed by what he witnessed.
“My congratulations go out to both Somerset and Gloucestershire for putting on such great events,” he said. “It was great to see not only the Storm and Academy players, but also all the other county players getting to play at venues like the Cooper Associates County Ground and the Seat Unique Stadium. A lot of the players wouldn’t have experienced that before, so it was great to see these girls getting that opportunity.
“There was some really good cricket played, especially when you consider that a lot of the teams hadn’t managed to play any games due to the amount of rain that we had in April and May. The standard was high and there were a lot of standout performances and that was great to see.

“From our perspective, we felt that it was important to make all Western Storm players available for selection, apart from those who were injured. It’s important that our players spend time with their counties, because that’s where it all began for them. We need to make sure that we’re supporting county cricket by helping the coaches and the administrators to grow the game and develop the players.
“It was great to see our players engaging with and giving advice to players who aren’t currently involved with the Storm Pathway. Hopefully, it won’t be long before some of these players are wearing the green and black.”
