Western Storm announce Training Squad
Reigning Kia Super League Champions, Western Storm have announced their training squad ahead of the 2018 season.
This group of players will be involved in the Storm’s Winter Training programme and the list features some new faces alongside some familiar names as Head Coach Trevor Griffin explains.
“It’s great to be back with the training squad as we start to build up to the 2018 Kia Super League and the defence of our title,” he said. “Our winter training involves a mix of new and existing players from around the region who have the potential to secure a contract with us.
“Some of the group have already come through the South West Regional Development Program, which only started 18 months ago and I’m absolutely delighted about that.
“This year’s Kia Super League programme is twice the size of previous years, with each team playing the others home & away. Therefore, it’s vital that everyone in the squad plays a full part to help us retain the trophy.
“Last year our non-international players contributed more than any other KSL team and it’s important that we continue this in 2018.
“It’s an exciting time and the 14 players have been working hard over the winter & competing for one of the eight or nine contracts available. There’s a great buzz around the group and we can’t wait to get started.”
The training squad is as follows:
Lissy Macleod (Berkshire)
Amara Carr (Devon & Middlesex)
Rebecca Silk (Devon)
Steph Hutchins (Devon)
Dani Gibson (Gloucestershire)
Abby Evans (Gloucestershire)
Nicole Richards (Somerset)
