Western Storm sign Ellie Anderson on loan
Western Storm can today confirm the signing of Ellie Anderson on a month-long loan from Central Sparks.
The England Under 19 International joins up with the squad in time to be available for selection for tomorrow’s Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy match against South East Stars at the Cooper Associates County Ground.
The 20-year-old right-arm seamer, who is a product of the Worcestershire Player Pathway, joined the Central Sparks Academy in 2021 and was selected by Southern Brave in The Hundred in 2023.
She was named in the England squad for the 2023 Under 19 World Cup where she finished the tournament with eight wickets with a best of five for 12 against the West Indies.
After joining Storm, Ellie said: “Hopefully, I can get some games under my belt this month and take a few wickets. I’ll be looking to gain some valuable experience and to have some success with Storm.
“It’s a win-win situation really. I’m pleased that Sparks have let me have this opportunity and that Storm want me here to show what I can do.”
Western Storm Head Coach, Trevor Griffin is pleased to have added depth to the squad. “There’s always the possibility that players will get called into the England squad and with that in mind we wanted to strengthen our attack,” he explained. “Ellie has played for England Under 19s and she bowled nicely against us in our recent warm up match at Millfield.
“The opportunity to bring her in on loan presented itself and we’re pleased to have secured her services. She’s got some good skills and she’s got a bit of pace, so we’re delighted that she’s here.”
