The two teams have faced each other twice in the Charlotte Edwards Cup with both teams having one match each.
The last time the two sides met in the competition was in August 2021 in Cambridge. Western Storm came out on top by five runs.
Sunrisers won the toss and elected to field.
Georgia Hennessy and Fi Morris put on 68 for the first wicket from 10.2 overs until Morris fell for 21. Hennessey went on to make 62, and a rapid 34 from Sophie Luff helped to ensure that Western Storm posted a total of 147 for five from our 20 overs.
Lissy MacLeod and Cordelia Griffith shared an opening stand of 49 from just 6.2 overs, but Nicole Harvey ran through the top order to finish with figures of three for 17 as Storm restricted their opponents to 142 for seven.

VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Ahead of the fixture, Western Storm Captain, Sophie Luff said: “Obviously, losing our opening game wasn’t what we wanted, but we’ve got a couple of games this week to turn it around and that starts with the Sunrisers at Chelmsford on Wednesday.
“We did a lot of things right on Saturday and hopefully we can take those into the games this week and generate a bit of momentum. We all want to get a win in that column and get up and running in the competition.
“There are no easy games at this level and every squad is very competitive. In T20 cricket sometimes you only need one player to have a big game to dictate the outcome, and hopefully that will be someone in the Storm camp this week. We need to be on the right side of the big moments and that all comes back to following through on our processes.”
THE OPPOSITION
SUNRISERS
Interim Head Coach: Laura Marsh
Captain: Kelly Castle
Key player: Mady Villiers.
Mady Villiers was only 13 when she posted her first century in an Essex Schools’ Cup semi-final. Two years later, she took four wickets for her school’s first XI. The allrounder continued to impress over the years, returning figures of 3-22 in the finals of the 2018 Kia Super League and winning the title for Surrey Stars.
Following more impressive performances, this time, for the England Women’s Academy’s 2019 series against Australia A, Villiers rightfully earned her international call-up in an IT20 against Australia in July 2019.
Since then she has played 17 IT20s.
