2024 Emerging Player Programme selections announced

We can today reveal the names of the players who have been selected for the 2024 Emerging Player Programme (EPP).

The EPP provides the best players in County Age Group Cricket with the opportunity to be part of a regional programme and to develop under the guidance of different coaches in the region. It also gives those involved greater access to resources that can help them fulfil their aspirations of a career as a professional cricketer.

Once again, the best young players from Wales, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Cornwall and Devon attended a series of observation events across the region, and after an extensive monitoring and selection process the following 38 players have been selected:

Following the announcement of the selections, Senior Regional Talent Manager, Jack Bradbury said: “To have all six of our Counties represented within this year’s EPP intake is fantastic. It is absolutely vital that we continue to ensure that the very best players from across the whole region get the opportunity to access the Western Storm Pathway, and it is a testament to the work that goes on in those six Counties that the EPP is so strong this year. We need to be inspiring everyone in the region and this programme allows us to do that.

“Everyone at Western Storm would like to take this opportunity to congratulate these players and to thank everyone who has helped them to get to this position. All of those selected have the potential to go on to become an Academy cricketer and we are excited to see how their journeys progress.”

The EPP involves weekly hub sessions, group sessions, outdoor training sessions and matchplay opportunities in the summer months.

The weekly hub sessions will take place at a number of different venues across the region, with sessions taking place at Seat Unique Stadium (Gloucestershire), University of Exeter (Devon), Sophia Gardens & Neath Cricket Club (Wales), Millfield School (Somerset) and Truro and Penwith College (Cornwall) across the winter.

Those players that have been selected for the EPP will receive a range of support services including, Cricket Development, Sports Psychology and a Strength & Conditioning Programme.
